Dental implants can be considered as artificial tooth roots which are placed in the jaw bone and on which crown/bridge can be fabricated. Dental implants act as the best treatment option for missing teeth as they very closely restore the form and function of the natural teeth. They are also referred to as the third set of dentition. They can be used to replace either single, multiple or complete set of teeth.

Crowns or caps are fabricated over natural teeth after preparation or on dental implants and bridges are mostly used to replace missing teeth by taking support from adjacent natural teeth.

There are broadly three types of crowns –
Full metal crowns – they are completely made of metal and are metallic in colour.

Full ceramic crowns – they are completely made of tooth – coloured ceramic and thus have the best aesthetic appearance. Also they conserve the tooth structure as they require minimal tooth preparation and can provide maximum strength.

Dentures are removable appliances which replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues. They are of two types –
Complete Dentures – Replace complete set of missing teeth.
Partial Dentures – Replace few missing teeth.

Root canal treatment is a very common routine procedure performed on an infected or decayed tooth and is intended to relieve pain and save the tooth. The tooth hosts a pulpal tissue which consists of nerves and blood vessels. In root canal treatment, the infected pulp tissue is carefully removed from the root canals of the tooth, the root canals are cleaned, disinfected, shaped and filled with an inert material to seal the space

Orthodontic treatment aims to restore the function and aesthetics of the teeth, jaw and face by aligning the teeth in a correct position with the help of braces.
Types of braces –

Lingual orthodontics – In this treatment option, the braces are placed on the inner side of the teeth and thus are not visible while smiling and talking.

Oral health is an important part of general health. Children are susceptible to tooth decay immediately after their first tooth erupts in the oral cavity, that is at about 6 months of age.
